G L A S S E S

(As you can tell, she's thrilled)

So, the other day Jake came home to find Maya sitting directly in front of the big screen TV. I've seen her do it several times, but I just figured she liked to see things up close and personal... anyway, this prompted him to do an at home vision screening test with the girls (which was very technical, a white sheet of paper that said M I L K on it. He scribbled the words on a scratch sheet of paper that had some little words highlighted with a yellow marker... When he stood back and asked Maya what it said, she replied, "All I can see is a fuzzy yellow dot." Houston, we have a problem.

I took the girls last year for exams and Hayley was the one with a bit of an issue - but no glasses... This year Maya's left eye must be going through a growth spurt, because she can't see long distances anymore. The doc gave her a prescription - just one that she has to wear at school to see the board, etc. She looked very cute trying on different pairs, and she found some really cute ones...
We met the girls' teachers yesterday - Maya's pretty excited about 4th grade -- and Hayley's feeling alright about 5th grade. Maya has a male teacher this year, which is new, and he seems to like sports because he asked which sports Maya likes. He also has a bunch of little weird troll dolls and Luke Skywalker dolls on his desk... I'm trying to not be concerned. Teaching the 4th grade would make anyone a little nuts... Hayley's teacher is a bit more business like, and Hays has 2 teachers this year - in order to better prepare the kids for junior high. We are still pretty bummed that we only know a few kids going to the school, but the girls got invited to a Highschool musical (HS 2 for those of you without preteen girls who love Zac Efron) party next weekend, so they should be able to make a few friends there.... I think it will be a good school year! They go back to school on Tuesday.. so I'll let you know how it goes.
With regard to baby names -- I'm finding that a lot of people have a lot of advice as to what we should name this little girl. The hardest part for me is trying not to hurt their feelings when they give me options that they would name their kids. We are going to be traditional with this one. Granny and Gramps make one simple suggestion - to name her something they can remember. Apparently there have been a surge of sir names used in our family such as Carter, Parker, Greyson, Jefferson and Benson ( I could go on all day) so they have asked that it just be simple enough to remember. I'll keep that in mind. The top names of 07' are completely used up, so we'll have to dig deep for this one. We'll be staying away from the -lyn's as those have been taken by our family... We've thought about past names we were going to name our other girls, but for some reason "Cool Breeze" doesn't seem to fly these days.... We'll keep you posted.

hahahahahahaha....i'm sorry, but "cool breeze" has been assigned already in this family. must we torture another small child with the nicknames that rhyme with "bree" and having it's name substituted in every damn song that says "me" in the lyrics? i think not. besides, the boys at starbucks can't get it right. i'm tired of looking at my warm latte cup and seeing "breed" boldly scrawled on the side. i am starting to think it's not a mistake. they are playing a cruel joke. damn starbucks. i am from now on "star" at starbucks. they can't screw that one up. i'll just pretend i'm famous. or something....
