Birthday.

Maya had a birthday this week - so she and Hface are the same age for three weeks. That's right, 2 babies in a 12 month time frame is what I did what seems like a million years ago. Of course Hface is thrilled that they share an age and she loses the "oldest" title for a few weeks...Luckily each girl has turned out to be exceptional, otherwise I'm not sure I could have survived the two of them so close in age.
She made her lists of invites, food and preparations. She's my super planner. She went with a movie star theme complete with a reenactment of a few Twilight scenes. I tried in vain to talk her out of the "play" - but she spent about two full days typing and highlighting her friends' parts. *I was mostly discouraging to her because I really wanted to play Bella but I got typecast as the mom*. Maya asked her friends to dress up (that was unknown to me - I was shocked when I saw Makenna the forever tomboy wearing a sparkly ensemble complete with black converse). Maya made popcorn with white chocolate, had a chocolate fountain (thanks V), pizza, etc. The girls played pin the Oscar on the star (Elvis and Marilyn, neither of which ever won an Oscar, but it didn't matter because none of the girls knew who either of them were). They did their version of Twilight (and everyone was into it, much to my surprise). I videotaped it in case any of them either a) become famous or b) need to be blackmailed into doing something I need them to do (like tattle on Maya).
All together it was a great party. Happppppy birthday to my sweet baby girl...(sorry you got replaced by the new baby girl). Maya is the IDEAL daughter. Cheerful, helpful, too smart for her own good, excellent student, sweet, kind and considerate. The only negative I can think of is that she hates to share food...which drives me crazy because I always want a bite of whatever she's having. She's a great little girl that is growing up way too fast.

What a wonderful little girl you have! Happy B-day.

And, Mandy, you should have totally been Bella.

Psst. Don't tell anyone I've read those books :) I don't have tweens and I loved every word.
