Six months old...

So here we are at the half-year mark. Who knew time would drag/fly by so fast/slow? It has been a really full six months and I'm still waiting for the time that I can just sit down and relax. I'm beginning to think that won't happen for another 18-20 years.

Chloe had an appointment last week with her Ped. They did the "6 month" check-up, which was funny since she's no where near an actual 6 month old, more like 3 months. The doc was very happy with her progress and especially her weight gain. She is up to 10 pounds 11 ounces (per their scale)... she's gained over a pound since her last appointment. Eating is one of the things she's good at, when she can keep the food down. She's off the reflux med for another week or so to try and see if her prolactin levels will drop (so we can get out of the MRI). Anyhow, she did really great cooing and smiling at the doctor. She was pretty happy until they announced that not only would she be receiving the synagis shot (for RSV), it was time for 6 month shots. Wait, what? Didn't we just do shots like the past three appointments? Apparently kids have to get stuck every time they go into the doc. So, 4 shots later, one poopy diaper and poopy shirt later, we were done.
She went in for another blood test last week also to see how her levels are doing. I haven't heard the results yet, but my fingers are crossed for good news. She needs a little break.

6 months. What has 6 months brought us? Chloe is now sleeping really well. She goes down 'for good' around 10:30 or so and sleeps until about 3:00 a.m. She wakes only for a little bottle and then falls right to sleep. (At least, I hope she does, because that's what I do). She wakes around 7:00 a.m. SMILING every morning. She's happy most of the time. She's still not thrilled about "tummy time" but she's doing really well laying on her back and trying to play with her toys. She loves the girls...she likes to look at their pictures and I'm pretty sure she recognizes them. She is getting close to a giggle...we think. She acts like it is just uncomfortable when she gets tickled -- she hasn't quite figured it out yet and just grunts instead of laughs.
She has her hands in her mouth most of the time now. She sucks on her thumb a lot, but it never seems to be on purpose, it's just the one that gets stuck in her mouth.

Just yesterday she rolled over for the first time. The Ped told me that within 2-4 weeks she would likely be rolling over and I was like 'ya right...' but she did! She can almost roll from back to tummy, too. She's really starting to dig her toys. She especially likes the black/white, dark/light contrast as I'm sure most babies do. We have some dark stars hanging on the wall and she will stare at them for a really long time.

She stayed with a baby-sitter (THANK you V!) for almost an entire day last Friday while we attended Granny's funeral. According to Velda, Chloe was a good baby. I'm so glad...she's only been left for a short period of time once before and that didn't really turn out well....

I'm starting to take her out more and more...hopefully RSV season is about over. She went to her first extended family function last week and met a lot of cousins. People still want to hold/touch her and it's still really hard for me to say it's okay that they hold her... mostly I still say NO. We've really worked too hard to get her to this point!
I really can't wait to see what the next few months bring... I'm thinking that she will start laughing out loud within the next month or so... and that will be fun. She's starting to entertain herself more, so that's A LOT of fun for me... She's really an easy baby, so it can only get better :)
