ER- it's not like the TV show

Me: Dude, is that blood on your hand?

ER male-nurse: Oh ya, it looks like it.

This was the conversation between myself and the male-nurse last night around 3:00 a.m. in the effing ER at a hospital that shall remain nameless -- as he was bending Chloe's wrist in half trying to find a vein in which to stick an IV (that was not necessary). He had a blood smattering across his ungloved hand. I was a little surprised, so I actually did say DUDE is that BLOOD on your hand!? Seriously.

No worries, he promptly left the room and we actually didn't see him again nor did he care for Chloe again, nor did he draw her blood. I guess he passed us off to a new nurse who asked the question of the year, "Oh, is this your first baby?"

Um, No, it's still not, I act like this for each of my kids -- I'm a bit of a worried Mother. You get that from spending months in the hospital with your child.

So after Xrays, blood culture, stool sample, and full panel of whatever blood tests, Chloe is A-O-K for anything an ER doc would spot, and I'm not sure how much they would catch at 5:00 a.m. We were there for approximately 8 hours. A big THANK YOU to Velda for sitting in the RSV infested waiting room while Chloe and I waited in the car. You saved us!

Now we will follow up with the GI. They are thinking it's just an allergy to her formula, maybe C-diff (I think we did that one already....) maybe something that has been not-yet-discovered. Here's what Chloe thinks about her male-nurse....

God Bless the NICU nurses and their amazing skills. I never appreciated you as much as I do now!

Ok that dirty look is nothing compared to the sad....how could you make me do that look she gave you right after the "un-infested" nurse took her blood!! I swear I have never seen a tiny little baby throw out a full on FROWN like that at the absolute perfect moment! You could tell her feelings were seriously crushed :-(
