Time for school...and has it been 10 months already?

Last Monday was the girls' first day back to school (yeah!). They seemed to really enjoy their first week of school. Maya's teachers are interesting (ummmm interesting as in one teacher explained how the Star Wars toys on his desk were NOT toys, but "action figures"). Hayley had a good week due to there being no homework assigned. We'll see how next week goes. Both girls were in good spirits, so we're excited so far that they'll have a good year.
Hays is also playing the flute this year. I told her i used to play the flute (I just had a flashback to me, Erin and Janelle playing some super annoying trio just now... I can hear the song as plain as day in my mind. Wow, I'm glad Mother Mary didn't video those practices..) Hays wanted to play the clarinet but I told her that I didn't think I could handle the practicing of a clarinet (thanks Bree!). And all that reed sucking...gross...Plus, I explained to the music guy that only Kenney G is good at it anyway, and he corrected me to say that Kenney G does not, in fact, play the clarinet (whatever).

As you can tell from the photos, Maya's passions this year are the Beatles, world PEACE and one you can't tell from the photo is - recycling. I don't know where she gets it. I like the Rolling Stones, war and littering (when no one is looking). She's a special girl for sure. *I'm just kidding, I really don't like the stones, I hate war and I seldom litter*

Yesterday Chloe turned 10 months old. As I write every month, I CANNOT believe 10 months have passed since she was born. Parts of it seem like yesterday, other parts seem ancient. I went through Chloe's stuff to box up lots of pictures, stuff from the NICU, etc. and it surprised me how much I'd forgotten....like how incredibly small she really was....how long she was there....how sick she got. She is amazing. She weighs 17 pounds, 2 ounces now (yeah!) She's hitting all of her milestones. She just started 'babbling' this week, which the girls and I find hilarious. She tries to bite everything/everyone. We can see her 2 teeth now when she yells/laughs. She's very predictable and very mild-mannered (unless you're a stranger and then LOOK OUT). Maya was my most mellow baby, but Chloe is running a very close second. -first footprint-

Just this week we put on a kiddie-color-annoying movie for babies ages 9 months+. I'm a terrible mother and have been counting the days until she could focus on the TV and watch something for entertainment. The day has arrived! She loves the colors, and we love that she loves the colors (however annoying they may be). The character for the color 'white' acts like a doctor examining a little doll as she's chanting "white...white...white..." I hope this doesn't affect Chloe's liking of the color white.
