Hayley called to me in the livingroom and said, "Hey mom, watch this" -- while she was holding Chloe. Chloe would be fine/happy while Hayley was standing up and as soon as she sat down, Chloe would start to cry. Elevation fever. That's one that hasn't been diagnosed by the doctor nor has she received any rx's for it... She'll just have to grow out of that one.
J's cousin was over for the bi-weekly haircut (soon there won't be enough to cut) and she said J was telling her that I never put Chloe down. She said that maybe there was some sort of psychological deal I have going on about Chloe being in the hospital for so long and not being able to hold her. I think she's right. When I look at Chloe, I still see that baby underneath the plastic. I don't want her to be sad (ever) or have any discomfort. I don't want her to be spoiled per se, I just want her to feel safe and loved.
Chloe's nurse, Nicole, came over this week to say HI (since we haven't seen her since like MAY...except for the one stop in the NICU a few weeks ago...). We love Nicole, well, I love Nicole and it seems that Chloe's memory is slipping a little. I handed her to Nicole and she got very sad :( Maybe Chloe can tell that Nicole has a baby-bump now and soon Chloe won't be the *only* baby in Nicole's life... I can't wait until baby *C* is born so that we can have playdates...(arranged marriage, here we come). Nicole mentioned that Chloe looks the same as she did in the NICU, just bigger...which is true. When I look at pictures even from 2 pounds on I can tell that it's Chloe. What a little cutie.
We broke out the baby scales today............
Chloe weighs 16 pounds 11 ounces...
Hayley's 6th grade backpack weighs 11 pounds 1 ounce...and
Maya's 5th grade backpack weighs 7 pounds 5 ounces.
(Oh, ya, I have other kids, too):
The girls' backpacks are ginormous. Their school did away with rolly-backpacks due to the carpet getting screwed up or some lame thing...so now the girls have to wear them on their backs. They also have to bring all of their own school supplies and don't have desks that they can keep their junk in OR lockers, therefore having to carry all of their sh*& with them everywhere they go.
Tonight was meet the teacher night. What a mess. The school seems unprepared (like last year)... Maya has 2 teachers this year, Mr. Weiss and Ms. Edwards. I really liked them both and hope that they will teach in a style that is favorable to Maya (i.e., any style). Hayley is in Jr. High, so she has 7 teachers (omg). We previously purchased school supplies and found tonight that she needed additional supplies. (wtf are vis-a-vis markers?! oh, you mean dry-erase markers? woo, woo, woo). $70 later, we are now prepared for school. This year will definitely be an experience for Hays as she is in the 'big kid' building with all of the huge Jr. High kids. And let me just tell you that Jr. Kids aren't made like they used to be. They are all sex-and-the-city now with make-up and fake nails (seriously, who gets acrylic nails for their 6th grader?) I thought Hayley was 'average' size for a 6th grader, but come to find out, my girls are on the shorter end of the spectrum. Most of the 6th graders look pretty young still, it's the 8th graders that freak me out. The girls start school on Monday.......it seems like just yesterday was their first day of school last year....
