"OUCH" said the insurance company as they received this claim... I just got this in the mail today -- So this is what 103 days in the NICU costs... I have received countless other bills and statements from various drug-pushers, er, doctors asking for some serious $. Chloe's Neo bill reached around $138,000.... and my hospital stay was roughly $30,000. I think we will spend about the same amount in formula and diapers over the next year. Good news from Chloe's GI doc yesterday. I formerly referred to this doc as "Dr. Death" because he gave me some iffy news at one point about the results of one of Chloe's tests (HIDA scan). I think whatever the issue was just got lost in translation.... The result of her scan was actually "inconclusive" but this doc told me otherwise. Anyhow, I will no longer refer to him as Dr. Death, because he is quite nice and speaks better English than I had remembered.
And, he gave us good news. He was happy with her color and said that if he had to guess he'd say her bili is about a 3 (it was 13 as of the last test). We have to do another blood test (uuuggg) but he thinks she looks great. He also said that we can try to mix her formula (Alimentum) with breast milk. Those of you who knew me in the NICU often saw me carrying 6+ bottles from the lactation room due to an overwhelming milk supply....

So I finally get to break into the stash...luckily...since I will have to start throwing out the old stuff soon as we're approaching the expiration date. I spent some serious time in the lactation room (obviously). Unfortunatly, here was Chloe's reaction to the "new" food -

That's right...she's not a big fan. I'm mixing it half and half so maybe she'll warm up to the idea eventually.
She weighs 8 lbs 2 ounces now.... big big big.
