When we got to the lung doc's office, the nice lady at the counter saw the oxygen tank and immediately took us back to a room -- so that we could avoid any germ-having others that would inhabit the waiting room. We went back to "triage" only to find that in the room (with no door) directly across from us was a wheezing, coughing, hacking, snotting, toddler. Not to be mean or anything, but we JUST got out of the hospital after THREE long months of trying to be UN-SICK. I think that the little girl across from us had the bird flu, or Sars or something that would travel across the triage rooms and infect Chloe with just one little germ. It's things like this that drive me crazy now. I never would have thought twice about a sick kid at the doc's office - that's obviously where they should be....but PLEASE don't place us right next to the sickest possible person in the zip code.
We got through the appointment with one more prescribed medication -- but the doc did reduce the total number of breathing treatments Chloe has to do in a 24 hour period, so I'm happy with that. When getting ready to leave and pay my fantabulous co-pay the formerly known as nice lady at the counter suggested that I place my jaundiced baby in the sunlight because she thought that might help the yellow hue. Really? Because I think that if it were just a little case of jaundice one of the Neo's in the past three months would have suggested the sunlight. Hmmmph. I know people mean well, especially in the medical community, but really, stick to what you know. If you do respiratory, I'll listen all day long about what bronchodilators do, but when we're talking liver, just mind your own business.
Chloe's HIDA scan trying to determine what was up with her liver...
Chloestasis almost became Chloe's nickname for a while, but one of her doc's called her "Glowy Chloe" which I like a little better.
In other news....the older girls started volleyball last week and this Saturday is their first game. I am very happy that they are finally playing a sport I understand and can participate in. I went to their first practice on Friday and they looked so old out on the court. Having Chloe has really put into perspective how fast kids grow up and that we have to enjoy every minute of it because it's surely fleeting. Some days I really want my girls to shrink back down to 2 and 3 year olds.... and then I remember how terrible it was to have 2 car seats in my car and that sickness always came in twos.... When I am up all night long with Chloe and wonder if I'll ever sleep again, I just think of my sister and her twins. She's much more likely to handle that situation better than I am! That was an attempt to show Hayley and Maya that his blog isn't just about Chloe, but it came full circle again. It's hard not to write only about her since she has consumed my life for the past almost 4 months. I'll post pics of the girls at their game - it I make it to one!
