Apparently Chloe thinks the 'gunshot' sound is funny...that is so Merrill of her. She's finally trying to laugh out loud - which I love - and this is the funniest thing I can do (to her). She's also in the best mood while taking a bath. She digs the tub.
The swallow study went well. It would have taken half the time that it did but the doc, radiologist and speech pathologist kept seeing something and couldn't figure out what it was. Luckily, Chloe chugged the barium (it tasted like berries). They had her lay flat on the x-ray table, and she proceeded to drink a bottle while lying down -- flat. That's something she's never done before -- due to the reflux -- if she is laying down the food comes up (sort of like the song about the "rains came down and the floods came up" -- except this is formula and vomit) anyhoo, she did remarkably well laying down. They had her keep drinking and were pointing at something on the screen, but I couldn't see it since I was trying to angle her head so that she wouldn't choke. Finally the speech pathologist asked if she had something metal on her outfit -- which she didn't. I figured out that they were seeing her PDA ligation clip -- the tiny clip they put in her chest when they closed that valve in her heart. (I think it's silver) Once I told them that was just her clippie, they said she was done and that she passed. Woo-hoo. She's getting A's on everything these days (and not the bad A's like in the NICU -- no B's either). They didn't do any sort of look at whether or not she's inhaling the formula she's refluxing - which I know she's getting a little into her lungs - but hopefully not so much that it will be an issue.
She's been on the crankity crank side for the past few days, too, but I think it's just a phase. She's still sleeping very well at night and hardly at all during the day. So, I'm well rested but I can't get anything done during the day. I like to just carry her around all day long. I even mopped the floor with her in the baby bjorn the other day. So yes, she's spoiled, but really no one can say anything about it. You know you'd all spoil her too if you'd seen what I saw her first 3 months of life.
I'm trying to arrange a playdate for Chloe and one of her NICU boyfriends, Kyler. He was a 25 weeker born around Thanksgiving last year. *Sorry Spencer, Chloe's seeing other boys* Kyler blew Chloe out of the water with his Cpap use. I was so jealous of his O2 sats. Hopefully he can come over next week so we can get some pictures of them together..... 6 months later :)
