Glockenspiels and dirty rats

At the girls' old school we saw a lot of big hair-dos. I am only thinking of this because a) I am watching the Stepford Wives right now about suburban robot wives and b) tonight we attended a 5th grade music performance at the girls' school....and I spotted a dirty rat.

I don't know who's word this is...(maybe Katie, or Sylvia?)...I can't recall, but it fits. It's not dirty nor is it actually a rat..it's just some ratted and pouffed hair..the kind where they rat up the back portion and smooth over the top layer. Most of the time the top layer gets all separated and the dirty rat peeks through... I've never been much of a ratter...but I think I should be because I need some height in my hair. Anyhow, after we left NE Mesa, I thought the dirty rat was dead. Guess again.

Hayley's class performance was really good. The teacher was a little over the top touchy-feely about the glockenspiel..but it's a great instrument, so I can see where she's coming from [just kidding, I don't know where she's coming from, just kidding, I do know but I'm not telling you, just kidding...just kidding...just kidding..] They did a rap about summer that was pretty enjoyable. Hayley played the triangle like a pro. She and her friends posed for pics after. It makes me sad that my girls are so grown up. We have such a good time together...but they are really getting old. Tonight the girls were telling me about how an 8th grader was piercing her friend's belly-button in the girls restroom at school. nice....and about how this other girl is "dating" three boys. What is dating when you're in the 6th grade exactly?? It's scary these days and I don't know if I'm ready for it.

Ready or not...
